Do you want to post about your Rustic Pathways Experience?

Rustic Pathways does a great job of making sure that most of the information available about their company on the internet is positive. But we know that personal experiences vary, so this is the place to share any problems you may have had working for Rustic Pathways or as a Rustic Pathways student or parent.

  1. My daughter enjoyed her experience in Costa Rica and persuaded me that she should do another trip with RP. But I do not like them. Many of the costs are hidden and must be intentionally so because they are far above market. The "recommended flights" are as much as 2x the market price of commercial flights on the same airlines, and RP exerts great pressure to imply that your child will not be safe if she does not pay the fees--and why not pay their travel service instead of the airline? Their accounting staff is surly and their collection methods extortionary. The policy of trying to seize thousands of dollars in pre-payments if a future installment payment is a day late is probably illegal. The "spending money" recommendation of $500 per week for "extras" is from the cruise industry playbook--get them on then add all sorts of must-dos for exorbitant prices.

    Warning to others: compare other programs carefully before signing on.
